When Finland celebrated the 100th anniversary of its declaration of independence, the authors asked themselves "How will Finland succeed in the next hundred years? How can we continue to ensure its competitiveness in the future?" The idea of the book was born.
Someone would ask now "what the API Economy is?". Authors define API Economy effective utilizing resources of other companies, as data and operations, to create added value to their own customers. One of the goals is to respond quickly changing customer needs. Book is written in a business point of view where developers are primary customers. Four authors with different backgrounds and expertise provide an analytical and versatile way of dealing with the topic with enthusiasm and ease of understanding.

Jarkko Moilanen is the founder of API:Suomi and APIOps communities and APItalist. Tivi has also chosen him TOP 100 IT-influencers in 2017. His interests are especially acting close to platforms of developers and API owners. He is also a Ph.D. and developer of APIOps Cycles.
Marjukka Niinioja is co-founder of Osaango and she have over 10 years experience of APIs and platforms in small and large companies and 15 year experience of public sector. For educational background she is a humanist and architect and trained many API experts over the years. She has also been involved in developing of APIOps Cycles method.
Marko Seppänen is Doctor of Science (technology) and professor of Industrial Management in Tampere University. He is broad-minded and always looking at new opportunities to renew business with technology. Areas of his interest also are the development of new platform business models and concepts.
Mika Honkanen is experienced expert of open data and APIs. He create added value by bringing public, private and third sector together in creative ways. He is especially interested in open ecosystems and added value and own data related to it.
